What strategies did you use to manage and resolve the conflict? Were these strategies successful? Why or why not? What role did leadership play in the conflict? Based on what you have learned this week; what role should leadership have played in the conflict? What characteristics of good leadership were displayed? Which were not?
During a group discussion i have encountered a conflict . The discussion was on climate change and some people were in favour of solar energy and some were not in favour of solar energy . So this led to a conflict between the group . At this point as a group leader I decide to come to a mutual consensus . I told everyone to give their views on solar energy and from it we took the best points by mutual agreement . Then effective listening was practiced in the group . This method gave everyone a chance to put his or her perspective in front of others .It helped in creating a cohesive atmosphere in the group . The strategy was successful .In the end we came on a group consensus . The situational leadership effectively managed the conflict by acting as a communication bridge between the two conflicting groups and provided them guidance to come to a consensus . Leaders promoted equal participation and motivated everyone to speak which provided confidence to everyone . Here good communication and management skills were displayed . Also a motivated character of the leader is displayed who gives equal opportunity to everyone .
