Depending on the type of work you do, the industry you are in or your role in the project team you will probably have very different opinions about what you like/dislike about MS Project. You should explore some of the other software tools such as Wrike,Basecamp, Mavenlink, Trello, Hive, Smartsheet, etc. What do you think about the more collaborative Microsoft Teams software? Be sure to ask each other questions and share your experiences.
First of All I would like to highlight the Project Management Knowledge Areas before discussing about Project Management Software. These are as followings
Any Software that address the above Knowledge areas will be the ideal software in any industry. For Example I am taking Construction Industry where Microsoft Project is being used tremendouly to prepare Project Planning & Scheduling, Resource Allocation and Monitoring. Though it is a very powerful tools but it has also its own limitation and challanges. For example it doesnt provide the user to use activity steps ,which enebles one to simplify the updating process of complex tasks and provide only 11 baselines. Apart from that, the ease of using this software in an organisational level, high establishment cost, limitation to information type are the challanges one can highlight. On the other hand it helps to prepare multiple reports, Detailed WBS, allows multiple endusers to work on an online database using MS Project Server.
