Sigmund Freud is a founding father of psychoanalysis (1856-1939). he carried out most of his research in Vienna. The research started when he had the case of one known as Anna O (actual name is Bertha Pappenheim). She was suffering from hysteria and she had symptoms like loss of speech together with convulsions and hallucinations while studying her case deeply, during the conversation he came to know about a deep-rooted fear in the subject of drinking due to an incident which had resulted in this condition was that dog that she hated had drunk from her glass. All along this thought was carried by her in her subconscious mind combined together was her anxiety that developed when she was caring for her sick father. When Anna opened up her mind and poured her thought out from her unconscious mind her symptoms disappeared. This case was the foundation Viennese neuropathologist turning to psychoanalysis.
Most of Freud's colleagues were women he was an egalitarian that means all people are equal and deserve equal rights and treatment.
Freud's understanding of woman was as good as it could have under the environment where even to acknowledge that women had sexual desire and repression of their sexual desire could make them hysterical was not taken seriously.
His mother Amalia Nathansohn played an important role in his life he was a favorite of his mother that has made him optimistic and self-reliance that helped him to become a successful psychoanalysis,
His wife Martha was a simple housewife with her he had six children.
He had three daughters out of three Anna played an important role in his life she nursed him when he was sick and carried out his research work after his death.
He had developed the theory that the human mind is divided into three states those are 1. The conscious mind, 2. The Subconscious mind 3. The Id that is instinct
According to his research theory, the subconscious mind is the real cause of all behavior. That stores all the happenings, events and unfulfilled wishes, that later responsible for psychic behavior to a greater degree than people suspect. The role of psychoanalysis is to unlock the unconscious mind and bring it to conscious.
His mother helped him to be a successful person in adulthood as smooth childhood had given him safety self-reliance and optimism.
