As a nursing student, I participated in a group to perform a skit/ role play in a rural area. We were posted in a rural area as per community health nursing program. And were divided into 7 members per group and we had to select a topic to create awareness in the community. It was a part of Community Awareness Program.

We were 7 members in a group selected randomly and the sole purpose of the group was to build awareness in the community on the issue of child marriage through street play.

The mission was to educate the community members on the physical development of the girl child and address the importance of her education.

We engaged the local governance committee at the village level and trained them to intervene in case of child marriages. We also conducted seminars and focus group discussions with local police authorities and judicial officials regarding child marriage and domestic violence.

My roles and responsibilities were:

- To prepare a script that create awareness regarding child marriage

- Since we had shortage of time, I had to supervise and take initiative in conducting rehearsals.

- Prepared the banner for the topic

- Informed the villagers to gather around the area where the play would be conducted at a particular time

- Once the play was a success I asked the community as to what they learned from the play. Wanted to make sure if the message was reached to them.
