Pessimists frequently choose to believe in the negative effects of life. We seem to have an intrinsic locus, or the assumption that external factors like destiny or the world make things unlikely. They also tend to focus on the experiences, and use them to predict future events. A truly happy and successful person, for example, could see for themselves a bleak future, probably based on trauma. Pessimists, too, find it hard to believe they can overcome challenges. So perhaps they're not as confident as optimists.

Pessimists similarly tend to take other people's actions personally.   For instance, if someone cut them off in traffic, they may be angry or upset, while an optimist might just see that the other person is having a bad day.

Because of their propensity to see hope and potential, optimists are likely to take on greater stress. Increased stress leads to increased risk of cardiovascular problems, such as heart attacks or blood pressure changes. Psychologists suggest that being pessimistic does actually help to better deal with stress. Pessimists begin with low expectations of a case, and consider all the worst outcomes possible. This can actually help you feel a little less nervous, because you are going to be prepared for the worst

I'd like to be an optimist A true optimist sees things as they are, visualizes how they might get better and then acts to make them that way.
