Solutions

Expert Solution

Process to establish which assessment methods are most useful and practical in different situations:

The first step in developing or selecting an assessment method for a given situation is to understand what the job requires employees to do and what knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) individuals must possess in order to perform the job effectively. this step is known as the Job Analysis. Based on the Job Analysis select or develop assessments that measure the most critical tasks or KSAs that a worker must possess upon entry to the job.

For hiring an Executive Assistant for the business, it would be important to assess whther candidates can solve complex business problems, communicate effectively, ability to perform work with speed and accuracy, prioritize the tasks and be proactive.

Some of the assessments methods that would be useful in this case-

  • Personality test- assess the applicant's thought process and analyze behavioral and emotional patterns
  • Aptitude-problem solving tests- to understand the ability to learn new things quickly
  • Situational Judgement Tests
  • Simulations - can assess how the candidates work under pressure, and if they can multi-task and prioritize
  • Structured interview

Economists argue that some environments are more conducive to economic growth than others. One of the ways economists differentiate one environment from another is in terms of its institutions. An institution is “the rules of the game in a society or, more formally, the humanly devised constraints that shape human interaction: the rules and regulations, laws, customs, and business practices of a country.” Do you agree that institutions are conducive to economic growth? If so, how? Briefly discuss.
