explain distributed leadership, include why it has garnered scholars' attention. Does the theory merit the attention it has received? what value might it provide beyond what other leadership theories already provide

Solutions

Expert Solution

Distributive leadership means that a group of people, having certain specific skill sets work together as a team, for leading the organization rather than the organisazation being led by one leader.

This theory has garnered scholar's attention because it is beleived that one person does not have all the skills to lead the entire organization. Also a group of individuals can collectively work together to make changes in the policies and norms of the organization and can make sustained efforts to maintain those changes. This task is difficult for one person who is in the position of the leader. Distributed leadership is useful for better functioning of the organization.

Distributed leadership has advantage over other leadership styles, in the sense that it combines the benefits of all the other leadership styles like strength bases leadership, transformational leadership in one style. This is because all depatments of the organisazation cannot be managed using one leadership style. The style of leadership should match with the nature of functions, and needs of people working in the department
