What are the mission statements for the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA), Department Enforcement Agency (DEA), Georgia Department of Corrections, and Baptist World Charities and how it fit into the organizational structure? How are these statements different?
The given agencies and/or institutions have the following mission statements:
National Criminal Justice Association:
to promote the development of justice systems in states, tribal nations, and units of local government that enhance public safety; prevent and reduce the harmful effects of criminal and delinquent behavior on victims, individuals, and communities
Drug Enforcement Agency
The mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is to enforce the controlled substances laws and regulations of the United States and bring to the criminal and civil justice system of the United States, or any other competent jurisdiction, those organizations and principal members of organizations, involved in the growing, manufacture, or distribution of controlled substances appearing in or destined for illicit traffic in the United States; and to recommend and support non-enforcement programs aimed at reducing the availability of illicit controlled substances on the domestic and international markets.
Georgia Department of Corrections:
The mission of GDC’s Criminal Intelligence Unit is to identify, reduce and prevent criminal activity by collecting, storing, assessing, and disseminating criminal intelligence information.
Baptist World Charities:
The mission of this global non profit organisation is to to expand missions and ministry projects to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide. Their mission statement can be summarised in their motto: “ If I can go, I will go. If I cannot go, I will send. But I refuse to sit and watch!”
An analysis of the mission statements of each of these institutions/ organisations shows that the mission statement highlights a key aspect of their work to the lay people and make the scope of their activities and goals clearer to the people. Hence, it is in this regard that each of these institutions differ in terms of their mission statements as they target different groups of people, such as juvenile delinquents in the case of NCJA, drug traffickers and offenders in the case of the jurisdiction of DEA, and investigation of identified criminals by Georgia Department of Corrections, and the entire heterogenous global network of Christian missionary groups.
