It is commonly seen that a surgical technologist select the sutures for a procedure based on the surgeon's preference card. And if any surgeon states he would like additional sutures and his preference card is outdated it is updated and proceeds accordingly.

Abdominoperineal resection is a type of colon resections. In this surgery it is done to treat cancer of the rectum.

Small surgical tools and a video camera are inserted into the incisions to remove the cancer. In a very advanced way some surgeons use a robotic device to assist with the surgery.

The need of his/her general card should include towel, XL cloth gown, size 8 gloves, towel, large paper gown, size 7.5 gloves, skin cleanser, electrosurgical pad, surgical gauze and surgical cotton, surgical sutures.

And before the surgery following things to be studied:

No use of alcohol by the patient.

About the previous medical history.

Note: At the same time there is need to prepare list the instrumentation and equipment for this procedure.

Furthermore surgeon’s preference will dictate the variance of equipment and instruments used in a particular situation.
