What logical fallacy is the statement? "You play Call of Duty a lot so you must know a lot about weapons."
First of all we have to accept the logical fact that we are all imperfect beings & are subject to commit mistakes now & then. We should be thankful that we have the ability to recognise our mistakes & can use the knowledge of logical reasoning & fallacies to shield baseless arguments. Logical fallacies are mistakes done in reasoning or thinking. They can be obvious or subtle. Sometimes they are in disguised form & we need practise & time to detect them. Logic is the study of reasoning which includes both the correct reasoning & the incorrect reasoning. Sometimes an argument based on this can be accurate & sometimes can be perfectly absurd. Both the argument & all its premises must be true for a statement to be true. The term logical fallacy is a self contradictory because logic refers to valid reasoning however fallacy refers to flawed reasoning or thinking. In this respect arguments based on this can be deceptive in nature. Fallacies may be classified by the process by which they occur such as material fallacies & verbal fallacies.'You play call of duty so you must know a lot about weapons'- it represents false analogy, weapons and video games are different things but here playing a game that includes involvement of using weapons in simulated form is giving utmost importance to have a knowledge of weapon handling.. One need not to be an expert in weapon handling while playing a game because one has to use his/her mouse to play the simulated game. Here weapons & video game like call of duty are two vastly different thing. Such fallacies are mostly presented by those having strong tendency to hear what he wants & to believe what he wants to believe.
