You are assigned to compare call times between two different groups. What questions must you evaluate prior to selecting the appropriate statistical test? What are the risks of selecting the wrong test? Illustrate by providing specific examples.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The call time between the two different groups will depend on the following factors as per me:

  • Are the people related by blood or close friends or spouse or acquaintances or totally unknown to each other.
  • For what purpose the call has been done, if it is for an interview, it's supposed to go longer, if it's a casual talk it should be of a shorter duration.
  • At what time the call has been done, I'll say that the calls done early morning and during afternoon are of shorter duration compared to the calls done during night and evening.
  • At what time of the year the call has been made, normally during the time of festivals we get many calls but they aren't of longer durations, they are kind of very formal talks.

Drawing contingency tables with a proper chi-squared test can give an excellent estimate of association or dissociation. against or in favor of the null hypothesis. In R, drawing contingency tables with viewing p values can help one estimate if there is an association or not. If the p-value is less than say 0.05, then it's safe to assume there is an association rejecting the null hypothesis and if not, we can't reject the null hypothesis but at the same time won't blindly accept the null hypothesis either.

can you explain 3 and 4 For Questions 1-3, Two different groups are measuring the SAME cart travelling with a constant velocity on a straight track. Table 1 and Table 2 represent the data collected by each group. Table 1 1. Use the standard "Kinematics Equations" for velocity and acceleration to find these values for each time step in Table 1 and Table 2 as well as their average and uncertainty.   Definitely take advantage of Excel's "Copy" and "Paste" functions...

A trucking company would like to compare two different routes for efficiency. Truckers are randomly assigned to two different routes. Twenty truckers following Route A report an average of 49 minutes, with a standard deviation of 5 minutes. Twenty truckers following Route B report an average of 54 minutes, with a standard deviation of 3 minutes. Histograms of travel times for the routes are roughly symmetric and show no outliers. a) Find a 95% confidence interval for the difference in...

A paint manufacturer wishes to compare the drying times of two different types of paint. Independent random samples of 11 cans of Type A and 9 cans of Type B were selected and applied to a similar surface. The drying times were recorded. Type A had a mean drying time of 68.9 with a standard deviation of 0.5. Type B had a mean drying time of 70.6 with a standard deviation of 3. Do the data provide sufficient evidence at...

A paint manufacturer wished to compare the drying times of two different types of paint. Independent simple random samples of 11 cans of type A and 9 cans of type B were selected and applied to similar surfaces. The drying times, in hours, were recorded. The summary statistics are as follows. Type A Type B 1 = 76.9 2= 63.7 s1 = 4.5 s2 = 5.1 n1 = 11 n2 = 9 Construct a 98% confidence interval for   the difference...
