phototherapy is a treatment with light using to treat sever neonatel jaundice(yellow appearance of the skin -due to excess bilirubin in dermal ,subcutaneous tissue and sclera) .phototerapy is a safe ,effective method which help reduce serum unconjugated bilirubin levels

in phototherapy special lights helps breakdown the bilirubin in baby's   skin .the most effective light is vivo (460-490n0m)

SUBSTANCE ABUSE DURING PREGNANCY

educate the mother that,

1 The degree of effect of abuse are depend on type and amount of substance consumed,nutritional and health status of pregnant mother

2 many substance cross the placenta and can be teratogenic (drugs ,tobacco ,alcohol)

3 no over the counter medications should be taken unless prescribed by a health care provider

4 smoking can result in low birth weight,a higher incidence of birth defects,and stillbirths

5 physical sign of drug abuse may include dilated or contracted pupils,fatigue,track,mark,skin abscesses ,inflamed nasal mucosa and inappropriate behavior by the mother

6 substance abuse threatens normal fetal growth and successful term completion of the pregnancy

7 substance abuse places the pregnancy at risk for fetal growth restriction ,abruptioplacentae and fetal bradycardia

8 consumption of alcohol during pregnancy may lead to fetal alcohol syndrome

at first help the mother understand all the side effect of substance abuse in infant and mother

clear all concerns and maintain a healthy conversation

educate through some videos and pictures

encourage mother to talk with other mothers ,who maintain a sucessful pregnancy
