Discuss (in detail) the advantages and disadvantages of open and closed-ended questions.
Open-ended questions
Advantages:
· Open ended questions give the respondent to explain their point with the needed examples and opinions.
· The open ended questions may also give clue for new areas which were previously unknown.
Disadvantages:
· The people cannot give a quantitative justification so these are not platted for the graphical representation.
· The open ended questions may also be liable to many such scrutiny where the facts may not be liked by the party on whom the research is conducted so the names and the people interviewed has to be kept a secret for the research benefits and ethics.
Close ended Questions
Advantages:
· The limited response helps in the plotting of graphs for the generation of research data,
· The responses are comparable since they are coded in analytics to have one response for each.
Disadvantages
· The limited data would be of no broader use to the research but to draw the inference for the plotting,
· No opinion of knowledge of the respondents is shown in here.
