onsider the following questions: How much does milk cost on the East Coast of the United States? How many minutes does it take to drive 30 miles at an average speed of 55 miles per hour? What is the age difference between you and your siblings? How many hours of sleep do teenagers get during the school year compared to summer vacation? Define each question as being or not being a statistical question and explain why.
Here we are provided with 4 different questions , viz.
1.How much does milk cost on the East Coast of the United States? ;
2. How many minutes does it take to drive 30 miles at an average speed of 55 miles per hour?;
3. What is the age difference between you and your siblings?
4. How many hours of sleep do teenagers get during the school year compared to summer vacation?
Now, question 1 is a statistical question as it requires the data of price of milk every single shop in every single area under East Coast,which is unrealistic and highly expensive in terms of time,money and manpower. So, one has to draw a sample and compute the price of milk on the basis of the sample data at hand.
Question 2 is a purely deterministic question, i.e. not a statistical question. This is because this question can be answered using unitary method of computation .
Question 3 is also not a statistical question as it only requires to subtract the ages of mine and ,y siblings.
Question 4 is a statistical question as it requires ad-hoc survey on sample of teenagers out of the population during summer vacation and during school year..The data collected on the quality characteristic and the result will be used to infer about the sleep hours among students during school year as compared to summer vacation.That is why, question $ is in turn a statistical question.
