The average amount spent on medicinal care per person in 2016 is $10,348 and in Europe is $5,198. The US has spent 18% of the GDP on health care and Europe (Switzerland) spends 12% of the GDP on health care.

A healthcare metric is quality measurement. The measures used to assess health are average hospital stay, treatment costs, patient waiting time, patient safety, patient satisfaction, hospital re-admission rates, etc. According to these indicators, the United States is considered to be the healthiest country with 73 ranks 35 in the world.

It also ensures the reliability and efficacy of the medicines and medical equipment, and encouraged research and development. Poverty was the main factor of illness, the Federal government plays an important role in overseeing and funding the health care system, by means of mandatory health insurance and other social insurance programs.
