Explain a scenario for observational learning in order to have an organism execute a desired behavior by answering the following questions. (Please be specific and detailed in your answers and write in full sentences.)
What is the desired behavior and the person and/or animal chosen for this scenario?
Why did you choose this behavior?
Is this behavior prosocial or antisocial?
How will confirm that the observer is focused on what the model is doing?
How will you confirm that the observer remembers and retains the behavior?
How will you confirm that the observer can replicate the behavior?
How will you confirm that the observer is motivated to learn?
Was vicarious punishment or vicarious reinforcement used in your example?
Are there biological, personal or cognitive limitations with the organism in your example?
Would this example be ethical if executed? Why or why not?
The process of learning that occurs to any person or animal by observing someone is called Observational behavior. It is the process which occurs naturally by observing their parents, siblings heroes, teachers or friends.
the best example I have taken to explain this Observational behavior is a newer employee is always punctual after seeing a colleague get fired for being late.
Here the new employee by observing the colleague getting scolding for being late, he might have felt ashamed and by observing the the new employee will learn that he should be punctual otherwise he may also get fired by his boss.
It is prosocial behavior because he is learning behavior which helps him to be punctual.
when we are new to any job obviously we will be observing the surroundings and this new employee also started to focus on the model.
In order to learn a behavior first we should have attention, to what is happening around us ,here the new employee remembered the situation of his colleagues getting fired he retained that by observing.
The next step in the observational behavior is to reproduce the observed behavior. The next day he will also be punctual to avoid the scolding, this show that he had replicated the behavior
Motivation to engage in the observed behavior is important in the process. if a person has attention, retention, capable of producing the behavior but if he does not have motivation it is of no use.
Vicarious punishment was given to the colleague which the new employee was motivated.
This example what I have taken is related to cognitive behavioral changes in a person . it is ethical to learn behavior by observing others.
