1. Substance abuse has been part of American society since more than 100 years. One of the founding fathers of USA, Benjamin Rush believes alcoholism is moral and the addiction is like a disease. In the year 1864, the first hospital New York State Inebriate Asylum started to treat alcoholism as the mental condition. As the people became aware of the harmful effect of alcohol and substance abuse, more community groups and sober houses began appearing. And today there are thousands of rehabilitation centres are present which offers treatment to the people who are addicted.
2. Human development theory is used to treat and recover those people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. It provides strategies based on the theories of human development for working with patients and helping them to recover. Theories mean to study the mind of a person, and this study will help them to fight alcoholism.
3. The person who is on drugs , must be given a treatment from a rehabilitation centres. He should be kept in a room and away from drugs. The patient must be surrounded with those people who can keep him happy. He should be on monitor 24 hours. He should take up exercise regularly and she also try to do mediation, any sport will also do. He should visit psychologist which will help him to learn more about himself and he will come to know how beautiful this world is without drugs. He will be on medication which will help him to over come drugs effect.
