Phase I:

1. "The combination of husband, wife, and children that 99.8 percent of people in the United States believe constitutes a family is not representative of 99.8 percent of U.S. families. According to 2010 census data, only 66 percent of children under seventeen years old live in a household with two married parents." Describe what your family unit currently looks like. (Mom, Dad, Brothers, Sisters?) Do you all live with one another? Do you plan on starting a family of your own one day? If yes - do you want your family to look like your family that you had growing up? If not - why not? (200 words)

1. My current family unit looks like that of a small nuclear family. I live with my father, mother and my younger brother. We all live together in an apartment and my parents are married to each other. We have a family business that is run by my parents and my younger brother currently goes to high school. Yes, I will surely want to start a family of my own when it is the right time. It will be great to spend the rest of the life with a partner and have kids. I would wish to have two children and live with them together in the countryside. The reason why I would want such a life is that one surely needs a partner in life. The kids would be a way to expand the family further. I would wish my children to live together with their parents so that they can learn the values from both of their parents. The children need to learn values and ways to live from their parents and be happy and satisfied with them.


2. Same-sex couples are the couples that are on the rise and they will be shaping the world and the dynamics of families ahead. Family and marriage are stated as the social constitution which helps in making the society a stable one. Family is considered as a social institution which will help in expanding the family and bringing stability in the society. With same-sex marriages being open and the people accepting their openness, the people have started to get married to the people of same-sex. They mostly adopt children and start their families. The way I see this sect growing is that not only same-sex marriages legalized but also couples of same-sex can adopt the children.
Family is considered as a unit where the children can receive love from their parents; children need to learn values and teachings which can make them good human beings in society. So if the parents are of the opposite sex or that of same-sex until they receive love and values from the parents and can be good people for the world they will be considered as children from good families. In a family, love and values are something that matters and not by whom they are raised by.
