Select a building. Go to at 3 locations. At each location, record the information in the networks window. Also, do a connection and speed test. Write a brief report describing what you learned about Wi-Fi service in the building, referring to the data you collected
Solution for the problem is provided below, please comment if you have any doubts:
By selecting three locations in the building (let it be a large building like the public school) and we can notice that the various locations will be monitor various Wi-Fi signals from various networking routers. Even though the Wi-Fi signals can penetrate the walls theoretically, in practical case the walls are acting as barriers and the signals strength deceases if walls are comes in between.
Let the three locations are shown the below data:
Location |
Networks connected |
Speed |
1 |
WifiNetwrok 1 WifiNetwrok 2 WifiNetwrok 3 |
10 Mbps 16 Mbps 20 Mbps |
2 |
WifiNetwrok 1 WifiNetwrok 2 WifiNetwrok 3 WifiNetwrok 4 |
20 Mbps 15 Mbps 10 Mbps 10 Mbps |
3 |
WifiNetwrok 1 WifiNetwrok 2 WifiNetwrok 4 |
10 Mbps 15 Mbps 20 Mbps |
That is, from the various locations the connections will be established from various routers and some routers are not visible from some other parts of the same building.
Also the speed of the same networks is varying on various locations and it mainly depends upon the signal strength from the router. If the signal strength is strong, the complete bandwidth can be used, reducing the signal strength reduces the bandwidth, and thus speed test will show lower results.
Thus to get the Wi-Fi service better in a building the various spots should be equipped with Wi-Fi routers to get the optimum speed at every place irrespective of location.
