Explain 1 area in which employee rights and employer responsibilities could result in conflict. How might this conflict arise, and what might you need to do to resolve it?.
The most simple scenario in an organisation is where the
employee has the right of having fair and just salary for the work
he/she does and have rest interval in between in case of fatigue in
long working hours.
Also it is the responsibility of the employer to follow the
commitments of providing salary as per the norms and giving rest
intervals in between in order to have maximum efficiency from the
employees.
However the conflict may arise when the employer also has the
responsibility of meeting the targets and serving the customers on
time for which he may ask the employees to work overtime and
without any rest. This creates the problem in the organisation.
Also in order to reduce the cost and maximize profits the overtime
salary is also not paid.
This is a real life example where the right of the employee and the
employer responsibilities create a conflict in the
organisation.
The conflict has raised due to different objectives of the employee
and the employer. In order to resolve the conflict the management
should divide the work among workers and provide rest intervals in
shift so that the work is not hampered and even employees are able
to get rest. Also rather than giving overtime salary, the company
can give incentives in terms of productivity.
