The 1-way Anova is a?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer:-

The one way anova is a statistical technique , in this we comparing two or more group means on a dependent variable , And dependent variable is continuous.

Suppose we take an example GPA of Msc statistics student in final exam , consider high school students , freshmen and juniors on a specific college , so with the help of anova we check is there any significant difference in GPA by above class level.

Here high school students , freshmen and juniors is a group of students.

There are several assumptions of anova

1.residuals (errors) are normally distributed.

2.Homogeneity of variance

3.Response given in the problem is normally distributed.

Here we test the hypothesis such as

Ho: Group of means are equal v/s H1: at least one group of means are different

Test statistic, F= explained variation/unexplained variation

F= MST/MSE

Where MST is the mean square of treatment or groups

And MSE is mean square of error

Decision :- based on P-value

If p-value < we reject the null hypothesis otherwise we accept it , where is level of significance.

,

Hence above mentioned technique is called one way anova.
