Is there an outpatient procedure that needs to be performed in order to have the implant inserted into the patient?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Yes there is need of an outpatient procedure that should be performed by trained healthcare professionals for insertion of device in the patient. At the same time patients should be encouraged to feel comfortable on both physical and mental basis to ensure correct placement.

There are certain instruction for insertion and removal of the implants that should be carried out after proper practice and as per the clinical guidelines.

As if the implant is placed improperly it may lead to deep location or migration, and hence it will be more difficult to remove it than a correctly placed subdermal implants.

Therefore all healthcare providers performing insertions and removals of implants should be trained prior to inserting or removing implants.

Prior to insertion of implants there is need of some outpatient procedure which should be considered as:

  • Need of carefully reading of the instructions for insertion and removal as well as the full Prescribing Information.
  • Correct timing of insertion is important.
  • Perform a history and physical examination, including a gynecologic examination, before insertion as avoid pregnancy.
  • Ensure that the patient understands the risks and benefits of implants before insertion. Need to have a consent form and maintain it with the patient's chart.

There is need of experts as well as equipments and it should be under aseptic condition.

Furthermore safety concerns should be taken in consideration.

Moreover as outpatient procedure there is need of blood testing, kidneys functioning and blood clots information normally.

There is need of information about the medications that a patient is taking, including herbal supplements, and if he/she has any previous allergic response, means patient history is required.

Hence there is need of so many outpatient procedures to be performed at the same time there is need of precautionary measures to be adopted to ensure better patient compliance regarding implants in a better and effective treatment system in healthcare industry as the novel drug delivery is concerned.
