2. With an increase in globalization of our business environment and subsequently projects, discuss how cultural differences can impact communication needs in a virtual team.

As we already know the term collocated and virtual it will be a lot easier to compare the needs. In general lets discuss meaning of collocated teams and virtual team

Collocated Team:

Where a formed team come to same location and collaborate with each other face to face whatever the project or meeting is about.

Communication Needs:

The very most important need for a collocated team is a location which is the base on which collocated team will gather.

After the location then comes the furniture or equipment's.

The next important thing is every one must present on the place.

Medium of communicate if a large meeting is going to held other accessories will be needed e.g speaker etc.

Virtual Team:

   Virtual team is a formed team in which they collaborate with each other from different locations they physically don't appear on a place they discuss via communication technology e.g video conferencing with each other through email etc.

Communication Needs:

   The very first important need is an internet connection all the team must have an internet connection.

   The very next thing is what communication bridge they are us email etc.

Team should all be available at the time of conference

   Cultural difference can very much put a negative impact on a virtual team first of all the major difference which will arrive is language barrier most of the time people from different culture have their own common tongue so the communication with them creates a big problem. The other problem which will arise is that you work can be halted for days or hours because every culture has some cultural days and most of the time those days are off for that person but the people who are not from that culture have to work so this can also cause a problem that one of your team person is not available. There behavior can vary and so that there are many other cultural difference that impacts communication needs in a virtual team
