Discover ways in which we can determine the information that a targeted audience needs from our communications.
Answer.
Taking an audience-centered approach is important in order to improve a speaker’s effectiveness and ensure that the presentation is delivered and received in an appropriate manner. This involves identifying the audience and adapting a speech to their interests, level of understanding, attitudes, and beliefs. However, as Identifying the needs of the audience through extensive research is often difficult, audience adaptation may be used as an effective method.
audience analysis involves Adapting a speech to an audience in terms of the stylistic and content choices a speaker makes for a presentation. An obejvetive and fairly clear knowledge of the topic, the expectations or the purpose of the audience coming for the discussion, speech etc, can help understand that when people become audience members in a speech situation, they bring with them expectations about the occasion, topic, and speaker. Violating audience expectations can have a negative impact on the effectiveness of the speech. Moreover, Knowing audience members’ attitudes about a topic will help a speaker determine the best way to reach their goals. Thus for instance, a presenter who is trying to convince the community to build a community park would probably be inclined to spend the majority of the speech giving reasons why a park would benefit the community and can establish greater acceptance for his/ her ideas in the audience by building a personal level of relationship such as by eye contacts, reducing physical distance between the audience and oneself, asking a members of the audience about his or her experience and linking it to one’s own message, etc.
