The World Health Organization defined it as a collaboration of “several health care providers from different professional and social backgrounds worrking together with patients, families, caregivers and communities to achieve a same goal ie,to provide highest quality of care to the patients .
In simple words it can be defined as a well
coordinated care given to patients by a collaborative team of health care professionals. For eg consulting with dentists, pharmacists, nurses, or whoever has necessary expertise to contribute to the patient's treatment plan.

Pharmacists.
Dentists.
Technologists and technicians.
Rehabilitation specialists.

3) The main role is to prevent medication errors, improve the
patient experience and deliver better patient outcomes which in
turn can reduce healthcare costs. It also helps the hospitals to
save money by shoring up workflow redundancies and operational
inefficiencies.They also strengthens the clinical programs and
patient outcomes which in turn helps the hospitals and programs
losing out to more successful competitors .
Implementing interprofessional collaboration is very important for
learning to work together and respecting each others perspectives
in healthcare, multiple disciplines can work more effectively as a
team to help improve patient outcome.
