Your goal in functional modeling is to depict what activities users perform and how the system reacts to those activities. This type of model expresses the high-level functionality of the system from the users’ perspective. For this Application, use the WestEast College case and create an activity diagram that depicts the system’s interactions with the students. Explain and justify the choices you made in your model. Cite your sources according to APA guidelines. Submit your assignment by Day 7.

Explanation and justification of the choices I made in my model ---

"Your goal in functional modeling is to depict what activities users perform and how the system reacts to those activities." ---

Here at the very beginning we have to learn about the Functional Modeling,

A functional model is a structured representation of the functions, activities or processes within the modeled system. It gives the process perspective of the object-oriented analysis model and an overview of what the system is supposed to do.Functional modelling in systems engineering and software engineering is a structured representation of functions within the modelled system. In systems engineering and software engineering, a function model is created from a functional modelling perspective.A functional block diagram describes the functions and inter-relationships of a system.A functional modelling perspective concentrates on describing the dynamic process. Its main concept is the process, which could be a function, transformation, activity, action, task etc. A well-known example of a modelling language that employs this perspective is data-flow diagram(DFD).Functional Modelling is represented through a hierarchy of DFDs. The DFD is a graphical representation of a system that shows the inputs to the system, the processing upon the inputs, the outputs of the system as well as the internal data stores.

"For this Application, use the WestEast College case and create an activity diagram that depicts the system’s interactions with the students."

Here we are going to hear about two things , the first is WestEast College case and the other is Activity Diagram. In the bellow you gonna read about the two things which is described bellow in brief.

WestEast College hires you as a systems analyst to design its new registration system. It is one of the top ranked schools in the United States. It is a small private college with few of students, faculty, and supporting staff. The college accepts new and transfer students from other colleges and countries. The college only accepts online applications. The WestEast College case is made to create a behavioral model that depicts the system’s interactions with the students. Using one use case as your basis, perform the following six steps ---

i.Create a sequence diagram.

ii.Create a communication diagram.

iii.Create a behavioral state machine diagram.

iv.Perform a CRUD analysis.

v.Justify the choices you made in your behavioral model.

vi.Briefly explain the relationship between your behavioral model and your structural and functional models you created in the last unit.

Now the time for the Activity Diagram --

Activity diagram is another important diagram in UML(Unified Modelling Language) to describe the dynamic aspects of the system. The basic purposes of activity diagrams is similar to other diagrams. It captures the dynamic behavior of the system. Other diagrams are used to show the message flow from one object to another but activity diagram is used to show message flow from one activity to another. An activity diagram is a behavioral diagram i.e. it depicts the behavior of a system. It is sometimes considered as the flowchart.

" Cite your sources according to APA guidelines."---

Here I'll describe about the APA guidelines which is commonly used in psychology, education, and other social sciences. The APA is known as  American Psychological Association. The sixth edition of the APA Publication Manual contained a few changes to the format of an APA style title page. The sixth edition have the six main points to modify the format of APA,those are bellow here ---

1.Your title page should contain at the top of each page of a book or chapter. that is flush left at the top of the page and a page number that is flush right at the top of the page.

2.The title should be at the top half (mid) of the page and should be centered between margins.

3.Use both upper-case and lower-case letters in your all pages.

4.This page should have the title of your paper, your name, and your school affiliation. The APA suggests that your title is no more than 12 words in length.Avoid to use your specification after your full name in your contents.

5.The title of your should be perfect or just matched to your topic. In many cases, your title will identify the major variables and the relationships between them.

6.The APA style guide also advises writers to avoid phrases. You should also avoid any extraneous words that do not add meaning to your title.

answer each question separately. How is behavioral modeling related to functional and structural modeling? How do functional, structural, and behavioral models work together to describe a whole system? Think about an ATM and its functionality. If you were creating a functional model for an ATM, what would be the use cases for that system? Note: You do not need to create a functional model or diagram. You may just describe the use cases.
