Consider three jobs you know well, and explain the personality traits necessary for each job using the big five model of personality from the textbook. For example police officer: openness-moderate, contentiousness-high, extraversion-moderate, aggressive-low, neuroticism-low. After examining these three jobs, can you see why you may or may not have been a good fit?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Consider three jobs you know well, and explain the personality traits necessary for each......

1. MARKETING EXECUTIVE

Openness – High, Conscentiousness – Moderate, Extraversion – High, Agreeableness – Moderate, Neuroticism-Low

2. SCHOOL TEACHER

Openness - High, Conscentiousness – Moderate, Extraversion – Moderate, agreeableness – High, neuroticism – Moderate

3. TEXTBOOK AUTHOR

Openness – Moderate, Conscentiousness – High, Extraversion – Low, Agreeableness –Low, Neuroticism - Moderate

Why you may or may not have been a good fit?

1. Marketing Executive - a good fit because the score on two of the three is high and two more is modetate

The traits required for a marketing Executive would be that of high agreeableness and openenss to experience. While high conscentiousness may be an advantage too but might make the person inflexible.

2. School Teacher - a better fit than the Marketing executive because of scoring moderate on three and high on two

School Teachers cannot run away from fixed schedules. A certain degree of neuroticism will help.

3. Textbook Author - Low fit because scoring high on one of the five, low on two and moderate on two

High neurotoicism may be a virtue here considering the degree of accuracy this job demands, not one of my strengths certainly.
