* The body breaks down most carbohydrates from the foods we eat and converts them to a type of sugar called glucse.The glucose is stored in the form of glycogen in animals. The two main site of storage of glycogen is liver and muscles.
2) Refine grains tend to be much lower in fiber and vitamins than whole grains. - TRUE
*Some Whole grains are highly nutritious whereas refined grains are nutrient poor (empty calories),this is not true of whole grains. Whole grains tend to be high in many nutrients, including fiber, B vitamins, magnessium, iorn, phosphorus, mangnese and selenium.On the other hand, refined or simple carbs have had most of the nutrients and fiber removed.
3) Consumption of whole grains has been linked TO A HOST OF HEALTH BENEFITS, INCLUDING A REDUCED RISK OF HEART DISEASE, OBESITY, DIABETES -- EVEN CANCER.
*Whole grains are packed with nutrients including protien, fiber, B vitamis, anti oxidents and trace minerals (iorn, zinc, copper and magnessium). A diet rich in whole grains has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and some forms of cancer.
4) Sugary drinks are the major source of adding sugar in the american diet.- TRUE
*The major source of added sugars in american diets are regular soft drinks, sugars, candy, cakes, cookies, pies and fruit drinks (frutades and fruit punch); diary deserts and milk products (ice cream, sweetened yogurt and sweetened milk); and other grains (cinnamon toast, and honey nut waffles).
