There are a number of factors which
are involved in inducing the violent behavior in the society .
Certainly biological factors are important but there are other
external factors which are also responsible for violent behaviors
..Let us discuss them one by one .
- History of violent environment - CHildren who are
exposed to violent behavior in their childhood tend to show more
violent behavior than others. This hampers their cognitive
development and is a result of observational learning . Domestic
violence is an example of this .
- Violent victimization - Violent victimization if
children also leads to violent behaviors .
- Cultural representation of violence - In some
cultures violence is glorified this results in more violence in the
society . Also the norms and patriarchal mindsets of toxic
masculinity sometimes promotes violence .
- Substance abuse - Substance abuse leads to
violence As the individual loses the ability to think and control
over emotions .
- Poor
behavioural control - This is also one of the factor of increasing
violence in the society
- Stress and emotional distress- Stress also leads
to violence on individuals using maladaptive coping mechanisms to
substitute their stress .For example domestic violence is an
example of this .
- Disorders- Mental disorders or hyperactivity ,
attention deficit disorders etc lead to violent behavior sometimes
.
- Biological factors This involve different types of
hormonal imbalances which induce mood swings and violence sometimes
is the outcome of this .
- Peer
pressure - Peer pressure or group conformity behaviour sometimes
lead to violence .Individuals show violent behavior in order to get
accepted in a certain group .
- Bias
and prejudice - Cultural and racial biases and prejudice also lead
to violent behavior .A very recent example is the killing of
African american people .This was the result fo racial
dscrimination .
