Suppose you were the project manager who is in charge of developing the Weather Station system described and you have to make a decision on whether to use Waterfall or Agile for developing it.
Q1. Evaluate the likelihood of the availability of requirements/specifications at the start. Explain which one is more suitable for developing it with reference to this aspect.
Q2. Evaluate the likelihood of changes to requirements. Explain which one is more suitable for developing it with reference to this aspect.
Q3. Evaluate the likely life span of this system. Explain which one is more suitable for developing it with reference to this aspect.
Q4. Evaluate the likelihood of customers being available for involvement in your project. Explain which one is more suitable for developing it with reference to this aspect.
Q5. Evaluate the maintenance issues of this system. Explain which one is more suitable for developing it with reference to this aspect.
Answer 1 - For developing a Weather Station System, the Agile method is more suitable as all the requirements and specifications may not be available initially. So with the initial plan of action the project can be started and as and when more requirements and specifications get to be known then those could be added to this ongoing Agile project.
Answer 2 - Since setting up a weather station depends upon a number of environmental and surrounding factors which are mostly beyond, so requirements and specifications are very likely to change in course of time and hence Agile method of execution is suitable.
Answer 3 - The lifespan of this project will vary depending upon a lot of uncontrollable environmental and surrounding factors.
Answer 4 - The likelihood of customers being involved in this project is less and specific knowledge for execution is needed in such a project.
