Analyze the role of the contingency plan coordinator (CPC) in the scope of preparing a BIA. Analyze the role of the business and IT stakeholders in the CPC.
`Hey,
Note: In case of any queries, just comment in box I would be very happy to assist all your queries
The Business Impact Analysis (BIA) objective is to understand the impact of threats on a business (i.e. economical, operational or both). There are four critical steps that a BIA should include: (1) identifying critical business functions; (2) Identifying critical computer resources that support key business functions; (3) Identifying disruption impacts and allowable outage times; and (4) develop recovery priorities (Contingency Planning: BIA, 2005). There is usually a contingency planning project team that assesses how critical all of the businesses processes. They are also the ones that determine the impact of loss of service or a reduction in normal service levels. The Contingency Plan Coordinator (CPC) is the individual who is overall responsible for the BIA and works closely with the team and security professionals. His/her job is to develop and prioritize recovery strategies that personnel will implement during contingency plan activation.
If stakeholders are not involved in the BIA they could lose interest in the business. Stakeholders should be notified of any incident so that they can provide input on managing the incident.
The CPC along with his contingency planning project team, and stakeholders should develop the BIA. By doing this it will keep all parties informed of all current threats and changes to any changes. The team may also know of some issues that the others do not know about
