How much would it cost to create software to do the following

track prospective, current and non-current customers. The customer information should include name, customer primary contact, status (prospective, current, previous), customer address (street, city, state, zip, country), phone numbers, email address, project names, estimate amount per project, project start and end date, contractors assigned to project, billing information. The new system must also track billable hours for each customer and provide billing invoices. It should provide case management for repeat customers.

Expert Solution

Cost of Software:

  • The cost of the software totally depends on many different things such as:
    • Locality
    • Type of Customers
    • Type of workforce
    • Organization's policy
    • Management Policies
  • Hence, looking at the above requirements it is clear that the software is some kind of management system which requires a proper and custom requirement like billing pieces of information, tracking bills, etc. There are certain things which are adding to the costing of the software.
  • The software will also be costed according to the above-written reasons such as if the talent pool through which the company is getting work done from is based on superior developers then they will be charging more than certain junior developers.
  • Also, the locality where the work is done is also important as if the work is done is in some another country whose currency is weak then it will not cost much which is also called as the outsourcing of the work. Countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, etc. are some of the countries which are excellent in providing outsource work along with quality products.
  • But, according to my estimate, the above software can be easily made within 30,000$ to 40,000$ with all the above features and will be easy if outsourcing will be an addon advantage in this case.

Hence, this is how we can know the costing of the software and get a rough but accurate estimate of the software development process.
