The three main signs and symptoms of alzeihmers are impaired cognitive functions, mood swings and behavioural changes.

Impaired cognitive function: impaired cognitive functions is first and foremost sign of alzeihmers. Short term memory loss and forgetfulness is a main feature of alzeihmers. Other cognitive impairments include difficulty in thinking or thought process, confused mental state, Inability to create new memories. Conxentration power reduces.

Behavioural changes: Alzeihmer patient exhibits series of behavioural changes. The patient may start exhibiting behaviour contrasting to his real self. Self care becomes difficult. Patient may get irritated and aggressive over little things. Jumbled speech and repetition of meaningless words is seen. Restlessness and lack of restraint.

Mood swings: mood swings and disorders are common. Patient may sometimes feel deprssed and sometimes elated and happy. Hallucination and paranoia are common. Increased anger or short temper is seen.
