Solutions

Expert Solution

In the case of a pendulum when the position is zero ,the physical location of the pendulum is in the equilibrium position because there is no change in the position of pendulum and there is no movement for the pendulum. The time period and length of the pendulum are the factors which are responsible for the change in the position of the pendulum. The mass at the end has also a role in the change in the position of pendulum. The largest positive value can be obtained when the pendulum is at rest and time period is zero.

The physical location of pendulum when the velocity is zero is the perpendicular distance from the pendulum. It has the largest positive value of velocity when the time period is less and the distance is greater.we know that velocity is the distance travelled in unit time.we get a higher value of velocity when there is more number of oscillations.

The pendulum is able to maintain consistent period while travelling different distance is due to the affect of gravity or gravitational force acting downwards. This is also the reason that the pendulum come back in rest after a particular interval of time.so there will be a consistency in period while travelling different distances.
