Briefly review the key innovations that culminated in the digital revolution. What is the basic technological process that made the revolution possible?
Origin of the digital revolution started with the development of the electronic digital computer way back in 1940’s. Solid state amplifier or transistor was the second critical innovation which fuelled to the growth of digital revolution. It helped in the development of transistor radios which were soon used for spreading the news across the world. The development of integrated circuit and silicon chip in late 1950’s helped in the development of personal computers. This was the most crucial phase for the digital revolution as we can see that how the computers have shaped the world today for betterment.
The primary technological processes which made digital revolution possible were the innovations leading towards binary arithmetic, parallel processing, and regenerative memory and computing functions. All these innovations helped in developing the personal computers and internet which have immensely helped in revolutionizing the way we work today
