Tetanus is a kind of disease that is usually not prevented by any kind of vaccination. In this disease the bacteria caused the infection as by entering into the body through the cut or wound in the skin . The prior cause is mainlt the objects which are already contaminated . The tetnus bacteria while it is in its  spores infect the body and after entering the body it is develop into the bacteria . The bacteria is usually present in soil, dust , manure etc . Tetnus gets into the body by the wounds mainly which is dirty or infected with fecal matter and etc . So the major way to transmit the tetnus is through a break in the skin or mucous membranes . It is not transmitted through person to person ., not even through respiratory droplet nuclei because the bacteria is not inhaled as it it present on the surface . Not transmitted through the faecal oral route as it means it is the route transmission in which the pathogen is present in the faecal and it passes from mouth of one person to another so that is also not the way of transmission of tetnus .

So the correct option is d , that is , through a break in skin or mucous membranes .
