You’ve joined GoPro’s community engagement team, and your job involves a variety of communication tasks across multiple channels. Use what you’ve learned in the course so far to solve these communication dilemmas.
1. You’ve written a blog post for a competition called “Catch Something Amazing,” in which GoPro users can submit “unplanned and unrehearsed” footage of events, performances, or other bits of action they just happen to stumble across while out and about with the GoPro cameras. Which of the following tweets is the best teaser to encourage people to click through to the blog post to read more about the competition?
a. You’ve just caught something amazing on camera—don’t hoard it; share it!
b. We’re not interested in the same old boring stuff. If you caught something amazing, we want to see it.
c. Did you catch something amazing with your GoPro? Enter to win $500 worth of equipment accessories.
d. Enter to win. Competition limited to GoPro users only (any model).
C could be the best teaser that can be created to encourage people to click through the blog post and to attract more people to read about the competition.
The logic is very simple, many social media researchers have told that using ' a killer headline' while writing blogposts can attract many users to click the link. Moreover, here monetary benefit ($500 worth of equipment accessories) acts as a motivation tool to lure people and to make them click the link and make them read more about the competition. The message in the line clearly communicating to the users, what is the benefit they are going to get if they participate in the competition also.
A cannot be right because not all the people like to share, what they caught on their cameras, without any benefit due to fear of misuse of pictures. So, this is not a catchy teaser line to attract more people to read about the competition.
B cannot be right because the line itself is very negative and what actually means boring stuff is unclear. So, this line gives unclear communication to many users and they couldn't be interested to click the link.
D cannot be right because the line is imposing restriction saying that only for GoPro users and what can be won in the competition is unclear. So, it is not a clear communication line for the users to encourage them to click the blogpost link.
