Describe the symptomology of AUD (per current DSM-V criteria) and distinguish it from normal alcohol use
Alcohol Use Disorder( AUD).
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) classifies various mental illnesses and disorders. The updated DSM-V, released in May 2013, combined the two former categorizations of abnormal alcohol use (alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence) into one diagnosis: alcohol use disorder.
The intensity of an individual’s AUD is broken into classifications namely
mild,
moderate,
or severe.
The symptomology of AUD according to DSM-V .These symptoms were found by DSM-V diagnoses individuals with an AUD .
1.Drinking of alcohol more or for a longer period of time

2.Addiction like feeling , incapable of cutting back on the amount
of alcohol consumed.
3.Prolonged sickness as a result of drinking too much.
5.Inability to concentrate due to alcohol cravings.
5.become socially cut , careless ,hold down a job, or perform in
school.
6.Drinking regularly despite problems caused with friends or
family.
7.Lack of interest in activities which were once important.
8.Overwhelmed by problems as a direct result of drinking.
9.Regular drinking , developing other health problems , feeling
depressed or anxious or blacking out.
10.Drinking more and more becoming susceptible to alcohol.
11.Experiencing withdrawal symptoms.
having at least two of these symptoms indicate the presence of an alcohol use disorder.No of symptoms among these tell us Whether you have a mild, moderate, or severe AUD.
Alcoholism
It is a term oftenly used to describe someone having suceptibility towards alcohol. Here the victim is alcohol dependent. It also means someone who simply drinks too much.
Difference Between Alcoholism and Alcohol Use Disorder
Alcohol use disorder is a diagnosis used by medical professionals to describe someone with an alcohol problem, to varying degrees.
Alcoholism is a non-medical term used most often in everyday language and within the rooms of Alcoholics .Alcoholism is more severe form .It has many symptoms than AUD .
