Abnormality Criteria
Abnormality is defined as a deviation in behaviour from the norms set for a mentally stable individual.For example, any person hearing voices and obey them, crying over trivial issues.The deviation from normality can be clearly seen from statistical point of view as well.The norms for normal behaviours are society and culture based, but however, differ significantly from one community to other.The abnormal/maladaptive behaviour tends to be dysfunctional, dangerous and impaired as it can relevantly cause problems for people, who are in their vicinity.Abnormality can arise due to biological factors, such as neurotransmitter imbalance, genetics,infections, brain defects,prenatal damage, substance abuse ; psychological factors, such as, emotional, physicalor sexual abuse, parent neglect; environmental factors , such as , societal/cultural expectations, substance abuse.
