Solutions

Expert Solution

Restaurant - It is assumed that the restaurant is a self service one, such as Mcdonalds where the sysem is of single phase- single channel system where the customers are sevred on first come first served basis. The customers line up in a single queue to order their items and then take their order from the delivery counter. They need to stand in one line and take delivery in one phase, irrespective to the number of items ordered by them.

Car dealership - In a car dealership, the system is of multiple channel multiple phases service system where the customer might visit one of many multipurpose channels to be served for  different services, such as getting quote for a new car, getting vehicle serviced, getting low cost finance, getting registration services, getting repairs and insurance claim and selling the old vehicles among others. Here, the system is of multiple phases, because one customer might have to avail more than one service at a time.

Zappos - In a retailer tlike Zappos, the system is of single phase, multiple channel type, where there are multiple check out counters for billing, and the customer can get the same service from any of these counters.
