While designing suspension system for a car, we will choose Axial or longitudinal vibration system.
Justification - For a car mainly there are two types of vibrations.
The type one are the vibrations induced in the car & passengers due to surface irregularities in road. These vibrations are induced by the road unevenness that subjects the vehicle to vertical oscillations. It will depend on road unevenness & mainly car’s speed. The car shakes in an up and down direction only, when the road have potholes and cracks in road.
The suspension system of an car is designed to reduce vibrations on the body of car, engine and passengers and it absorbs shocks received from the ground while car is moving on rough roads.
The second type of vibrations which caused by rotating parts of the vehicle mainly Engine vibrations. The car structure vibrates by the engine vibration at engine vibration frequencies. These frequencies may match the vibration coming from the track across the suspension, and it will cause increase in the vibration amplitude.
