Organizations utilize groups of people either as 'Ad-hocs', 'Teams', or 'Committees'.
Please comment on your understanding of each of these forms of functional units.
Committees: When a formal group is selected on behalf of a specific larger group for a specific goal is called a committee. In other words generally, a committee is a subset of a larger body which is form to perform a task for the larger body. Most of the time committee are created by-laws of the corporation. They are formed a very specific purpose for which sometimes has a well-defined deadline and sometimes has no fixed deadline.
Committee generally chairs by a head and other members which represent a different point of view of different divisions.
Team: A team is formed with skilled members for a specific task. Members are selected based upon their skill rather than what group or division they represent. A high performing team always comes on consensus based upon a predefined way of decision making and avoid the area of conflict since the goal of the team predefined. Members join the team with diverse skill sets but they complement each other. Each member serves a specific role in the success of the task. The accountability of the task is generally mutual. The team is always formed with specific deadlines.
Ad hoc: They are created for a purpose with a group of people for a time-bound task. After successful completion of the task, they are dissolved. Members have the responsibility for completing the task for which they are provided complete resources and decision-making powers. Ad hoc plays an important role for the success of the organization
