The Challenges and Pressures Faced by Organizations when Communicating Vision and Strategic Direction to Stakeholders
Vision and Mission statement gives a brief outline about what are the long term as well as short term goals of the organisation and why it exists in the position in the market. A vision and mission statement helps the organisation to achieve a higher degree or growth as it attracts the stakeholders to invest and be a part of it. Although small, communication of this statement to various stakeholders like employees and customers is a challenge itself:
1. Resist to changes: While communicating the values, mission and vision statement of the future actions by the organisation, it is seen that many stakeholders resist the same changes. For example, the customers want customer satisfaction as the company's vision but the vision is about profit maximisation. Thus, communication of vision should be done in a manner where both the parties understand the meaning and act towards achieving it together in the society.
2. Their benefits: Another challenge faced is the benefit. Many a times, the stakeholders want to see their benefit for the mission or vision statement and keeping everyone happy all together becomes a hard task. Shareholders want more profits, customers wants high value; thus it is hard for a company to work for all dimensions. A company should work in such a manner and develop such a vision statement which satisfies all.
3. Clear and definite: At last, the vision statement should also be clear, definite and continueous. It is seen that many a times an organistmation develops a statement which is for short term basis and doesn't last longer. A statement should be designed in such a manner where it can be adjustable and applied in all situations.
