Strategic direction or strategic plan is a detailed plan as to how an organization is going to attain its vision and mission. So without vision and mission strategic plan alone will not work at any situation.

Mission explains the purpose of the existence of the organization and what the business is going to do whereas the vision is to see where the company will reach in future. In other words goals and objectives are cleared through vision and mission. Only when a company's goal is clear employees can be lead to work for it. There comes the strategies as to the plan of working to attain the goal.

Vision answers the question where the company would reach in a certain period of time or where it aspires to reach. Vision shows the path to a long destination and the path can be followed only through strategic plans.

Strategic plan is to know the following

1. The strength of their organization- the organization suould know what best they can give to the customers.

2. Their products should be unique in nature so that it is preffered by majority of the people.

3. Company should keep in higher standards compared to their competitors.  

Other than general planning each department will have their specific plan to work accordingly. All these strategies will lead them to attain the vision of the organization.
