What type of data would I pull from the US Census Bureau for a geographical statistical model for a manufacturing firm?
You can pull the following data from the US Census Bureau:
1. Education details:
It can be collected by gender wise, state wise, region wise, city wise in order to know about employee potential that may be required by the manufacturing firm. It contains how many persons completed their high school studies, graduation studies that may help in decision making.
2. Health details of US people:
This is also helpful in deciding location.
3. Income levels and purchasing patterns of people:
Classifying the people into poor, middle class and rich and knowing which areas/places contain the more number of required class of people by the manufacturing firm can be of better use .
4. Age of people:
This is helpful in determining the availability/source of right employees and also right customers for the firm. If the firm is manufacturing a product that is applicable to youth, then the data regarding age is very helpful. It can be classified into different classes such as 20-30 years, 30-40 years and so on.
5. Data regarding suppliers, transportation, establishment and infrastructure of the firm, if any.
6. Any other data as may be required by the firm for achieving various objects such as profit maximisation, expansion, creation of brand image, creation of value to customers, etc,.
Different data is to be collected based on different purposes or objectives of the firm with respect to the geography/location.
