Cognitive science is the study of mental process. It includes learning, intellegence, mental process, memory etc.
The information processing in the memory is compared with computer by the psychologists. There are numerous things and they are received into our memory through senses. The cognitive function of the brain is to store the matters in the brain. There are two types of memory. With the cognitive function the information are stored as either short term memory or long term memory.
In the computer information are stored through input system. These information are stored with code system. Then when it is necessary, we get the output of the stored information. Similarly, in the memory the information is stored and we get the output of these information when needed. This process of encoding and decoding is done by cognitive science. As for example, the beauty and smell of rose are stored in our memory. When we get a smell of rose without seeing the flower, we can say that it is rose. This is information processing done by cognitive science.
Human memory constantly and continuously collects information. Therefore it forgets those that are stored in short term memory. Again memory becomes weak for various reasons. Then memory can not work properly. The process of encoding and decoding is not done properly.
