What are a food processing project's constraints and exclusions? Please explain all in details.
The common constraints and exclusions in a food-processing project are:
Availability of Raw Materials- Agricultural product is an essential item for maintaining food-processing activities. Some of the major constraints in getting raw materials are seasonal availability of certain vegetation, high cost of raw materials and shortage of supply.
Storage Constraints- Small-scale companies often face storage issues due to inadequate infrastructure facilities in warehouses and cold storage. Lack of specialized garage environments in cold storage and the absence of enough space in warehouses lead to product damages.
Transportation Issues- Perishable food items require proper packaging to prevent breakages and damages due to transportation of the products. Furthermore, timely shipping is also needed for preventing spoilage if the items.
Technological Equipment- Many developing countries have been using conventional production strategies, which require manual inspection. This results in intensive manual labor, risk of human errors and more time in processing.
High Competition- There exists high competition in the food-processing market, which can be dealt with innovative food products, high-quality requirements, improved manpower and developed marketing channels.
