As in virtually every system or learning strategy, understanding the foundation and developmental roots of the Software industry are quintessential characteristics for acquiring a concise knowledge of how the world has evolved to where businesses are today. Some of the principle topics in the discussion include the impact Apple and Microsoft had at pioneering the PC and Software industries, along with key elements comprising "Killer app" phenomena.
Students Should Answer the Following Questions
1. What would be some examples of "killer apps" that you use on your computer almost daily, and are applications that could have been the reason you wanted the type of computer (hardware) you have?
2. Which applications are still considered to be the killer apps for most financial and administrative jobs today?
A closer look at Xerox PARC laboratories and International Business Machines (IBM) will further assist in solidifying students' understanding of the critical shifts in management styles that were necessary in order to push the boundaries of new software and technology.
Ans 1: - There are many "Killer apps" out in
the world and it is very much dependent on the person or the job
that is being carried out on the system.
For Example: A computer programmer would call his/her IDE the
killer app or a graphics desinger would call Adobe Photoshop or
Corel Draw as the Killer App.
As far as my daily killer apps are concerned so being a software
professional in the pandemic situation the Killer app would be
Google Meet or any other video conferencing app.
Also VMWare Horizon that allows me to connect to
remote desktop and carry my task without any potential risk of data
loss. Apart being this I like to click and edit pictures so Adobe
Photoshop is very usefull as well as Adobe Lightroom. Also not to
forget the Chrome Browser is the critical Application that connects
us to the rest of the world so it deserves to be in this
list.
My current system hardware is built to support fluid running of
apps like Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom and Premiere Pro.
Ans 2: - For the financial Industry I would say still Microsoft Excel is the most useful Application. For Administrative purposes SAP, ZScaler, Outlook and Microsoft Word/Powerpoint are some great useful Applications.
