a)Spores
Spore is a minute typically one celled reproductive unit capable for giving rise to a new individual without sexual fusion. Spore is a reproductive cell capable of developing into new individual without fusion with another reproductive cell.
Spore is a reproductive structure that is adapted for dispersion and surviving for extended periods of the time in unfavourable conditions.
Spore formation is a type of asexual reproduction found among most of the non-flowering plants and eukaryotic organisms like bacteria and fungi. The process of spore formation is called sporulation. Sporulation involves reproduction of new plants by producing numerous microscopic spores.
b)Mycelium
Mycelium is the vegetative part of fungus or fungus like bacterial colony, consisting of a mass of branching ,thread- like hyphae. The function of mycelium is the mycelium extend the area in which a fungi can find nutrients. Fungi are stationary organism, so mycelium grows towards to look water and nutrients, which the mycelium transports to the fruiting body. So it can continue to produce biomass and grow fungal colonies composed of mycelium are found in and on soil and many other substrate.
Example
Perfect fungi reproduce both sexually and asexually, while imperfect fungi reproduce only asexually.
Importance of spores in the reproduction of fungi
In both sexual and asexual reproduction, fungi produce spores that disperse fromthe parent organism by either floating on the wind or hitching a ride on an animal. Fungal spores are smaller than plant seeds. This spores landing in an environment, that with support growth.
Importance of mycelium in the reproduction of fungi
Fungi reproduce asexually by fragmentation, budding etc. Fragments of hyphae can grow new colonies. Mycelium fragmentation occur when fungal mycelium seperate into many pieces and each piece growing into a seperate mycelium.
