Utilization examples ( how and when) use next teaching strategies in nursing practice: 1) One-on one session 2) Small group discussion and support group 3) Programmed instruction 4) Self-learning 5) Demonstration and return.
1. One on one meeting
A one on one meeting is a structered meeting based on an agenda which play a vital role in how a manager communicates with and manages employees effectively.
One on one session can be used in order to assess the effectiveness of a new treatment strategy or a new plan developed in the health care sector.
It can also be used for stating guidelines and mode of organization of a program to be launched.
2. Small group discussion and support group
Small group discussion allows presenters to announce a topic or idea for group discussion among participants. It follows a democratic style that allows oppurtunity for everyone to contribute their ideas, discuss and reflect them.
Eg. In a ward or hospital settings, a plan is made to tackle the undue rush in front of the nurses station or doctors OP. The hospital administrator or the ward in charge can arrange a discussion session for the particular problem so that every one can contribute their ideas for the same and tackle the situation. The hospital authorities can seek help of the support groups for better management
3. Programmed instruction
Programmed instruction is a method of self instruction that enlists machines or specially prepared books to teach information.. This strategy provides sufficient stuation for teaching to discriminate between range of possibilities and reduce generalizations.
The induction class for a new nurse in the hospital can be arranged in a step by step manner with intermittant evaluations or can be provided as books that can be reffered and evaluation can be done at regular intervals.
4. Self learning
Self learning is learning by ourselves. Here the person take initiative for learning with or without assistance, in diagnosing their needs for study formulating goals, identifying the resources available and evaluating the outcomes.
A nurse who is new to a ward, identifies a new treatment modality or diagnostic evalutaion that isn't familiar to her to be learned and with or without the help of others learn it.
5. Demonstration and return demonstration
This a method of showing or acting a modality to a person who lacks knowledge regarding the same.
eg. Administration of insulin injection to a person who is discharged. The nurse can demostrate the procedure at after that for the next dose to be administered she can ask the patient for the same.
